Kennebunkport has some of the best restaurants in Southern Maine. Whether it's simple seafood or elegantly prepared meals, our guests at the 1820 House Inn are in for a culinary treat.
For those Rachael Ray officionados, she recently visited our area and had a segment on her show 'Tasty Travels' featuring Mabel's Lobster Claw Restaurant that aired in August. Mabels has been in business for many years and has been a favorite for residents and visitors alike throughout the season (Spring, Summer and Fall). Another mainstay open yearround is Alison's Restaurant offering casual dining and a sports bar for thsoe who want to get caught up on local and national sports action
We suggest either Windows on the Water, On the Marsh or Pier 77 for our guests who are looking for a 'special' dining expereince. All offer a sofisticated and diverse menu that changes seasonally to take advantge of the freshest ingredients. We strongly recommeded discussing your dining needs while booking since most restaurants fill rapidly on weekends in the fall. A special note to those cooks out there, Windows on the Water does monthly cooking classes and On the Marsh does seasonal cooking classes. We have attended and think it's a perfect way to spend an evening.
The Wayfarer in Cape Porpoise offers homestyle cooking at very moderate prices. Sue and I dined there this past Thursday and had one of their nightly specials, New England Pot Roast and it was simply delicious. They do not have a liquor license but will allow you to bring your own, and they supply the glasses and cork screw.
We hope this helps with your planning while visiting the 1802 House Inn and the Kennebunkport area.
Marc and Sue
